Daily Devotional #1,810

I sign up to see a lot of nostalgia stuff online. There are old toy catalogues, early pictures of Disneyland and  advertisements that they say could never be used today. I like looking back at the things of the past that are no  longer a part of our world today. You can no longer buy the wonderful Jimmy Jet, get into Disneyland for less  than $5.00 or feel like the best Christmas gift you can give to your wife is a new vacuum cleaner! Things  change, ideas change, and cultural values change. Something that seems to be at the heart of life itself in our  society will in time be just a note in history. Even people are here and then are gone from our lives. But the  Bible claims that it will never change…and says that it will remain forever. That’s easy to say. The writer,  Bernard Ramm, said “A thousand times over, the death knell of the Bible has been sounded, the funeral  procession formed, the inscription cut on the tombstone, and committal read. But somehow the corpse never  stays put.” People have tried to kill it in all different ways, but God’s Word never dies, God’s Word never  changes. It tells us about life, about us and about God. And it tells us what God has done for us and what he  asks of us. Lots of folks over the years have denied the reality of the Bible…and they are all gone now. And  there are a lot of people who deny it today…and we are reminded that we all will leave this life too. But God’s  Word…well, it is still standing and will continue to do so. Take time to honestly look at the Bible and ask God  to show you who he is through it and what he promises in it. You do that and you will find a treasure that is  worth more than you can imagine. Pull out that Bible or bring it up on your phone and read it and see what God  really has to say to you and all of us. It is always worth the time and the effort! Here’s our Bible verse for  today…

1 Peter 1:23-25 NLT For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will  last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. (24) As the Scriptures say, “People are like  grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. (25) But the word of the  Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
