Daily Devotional #1,775

There will be no one with me…I will be alone. The whole family has headed off to the coast and I’m here  taking care of getting ready for Sunday…and I will be home all by myself. I’m pretty excited because our  house is always a center of a lot of activity. I can’t remember when I’ve had the house for more than an hour or two to myself. And today it won’t even be for overnight. It will be a fun change for me. I got to thinking about  that…what if that wasn’t just a few hour thing…what if I was alone all the time? What if I didn’t have my  family, my church, my work and my friends? Being alone wouldn’t seem all that attractive to me anymore. But  as a follower of this Jesus of the Bible…we are never alone. At the end of the Gospel of Matthew, one of the  last things that Jesus left us with was his promise that he would be with us always. The problem is that we can  be surrounded by people a lot of the time and still feel alone. But God has reminded us over and over again in  the Bible that we are never alone. There may not be people around us, but he and his love are always there.  And there is nothing that can separate from God’s sweet love. That includes death, life, angels, demons, fears,  worries or the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. And the great thing about God’s love is that once  we’ve experienced it life becomes fresh and new and filled with hope and song. Yeah, there’ll be times when  you will hit days or even seasons when it gets rough, but you are never really alone. The one who loves you  more than any person, creature or being ever would or could, will always be with you. And you know what?  That love often causes others to filter into our lives to share this journey of life with us. I’m going to enjoy  today, even though the gang is not here…because the one who loves me most will be faithfully hanging out with  me! Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Romans 8:38-39 NLT And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor  life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the  powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. (39) No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed,  nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our  Lord.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
