A lot of women say their husband never listens to them. I’m proud to say I have never heard that. Ok, someone else said that and I liked it because it was pretty funny…but I think it did sound like my wife! Listening is important in a love relationship. If we feel like we aren’t being heard, then we aren’t being valued. How about God? Are you sure that he listens to you in your talking to him, in your prayers? There are a number of places where the Bible reassures us that if we will pray, then he will be listening to us. And we can pray all we want to any time, any place or on any subject. The Psalmist lets us know that God did listen to him, that he paid attention to the prayer that he brought to God. And he honored God because he did not ignore his prayer and neither did he take his unfailing love from him. So, pray with confidence that God will listen. He hears every prayer and answers every prayer. Be careful because God is not a spiritual vending machine. You don’t get to put in a prayer and get anything you choose. But when you pray, you are really becoming partners with God in what he will do next for you, but also what he will do in you. And the answer might be yes. But it may be God’s will that it is a “no”. And sometimes it actually works out to “wait”. The Psalmist trusted in God’s love and said that it was unfailing love. So, pray, knowing that when you do that, it is important to God, he hears and he will act according to his will. And his will is to do the best and most loving thing in response. Pray specifically and trust him faithfully. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalms 66:19-20 NLT But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. (20) Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me.
Remember I’m praying for you!
