Daily Devotional #1,769

I heard a quote by an atheist (someone who chooses to believe there is no God) that said “We create God just so  we can cope with the meaninglessness of life.” I certainly don’t agree with his choice of belief but frankly, I’m  encouraged by his statement. What he is saying is that all life is meaningless without God! He got that part  right. Without God there is no stand-alone definition of morality or love or hope. Can you imagine a world  without hope? How about a life that has no hope for today and no hope for the future and even no hope for a  life beyond our journey here on earth? In the Bible, the prophet Jeremiah gives us a declaration from God.  “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to proser you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a  hope.” But the question that is out there is can you really know that there is a God…and that it is this God of  the Bible? God saw that coming and right after this verse he says (Jeremiah 29:12-14 NLT) In those days when  you pray, I will listen. (13) If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. (14) I will be found by you,  says the LORD. God promises that he is never far off and if you really want to find him and know him…he  will open that door for you. And the good news is that you won’t have to live in make believe or live in the  false belief that there is no hope. Because hope is a part of what God brings to the human heart as you  experience for yourself his love and kindness. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Jeremiah 29:11 BSB For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to  harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
