One of the things that you find out about living the Christian life is that you are going to have hard times…just like everyone else. It’s a broken world and we are all living in it together! You can and ought to pray for God to change the struggle you are in. And sometimes God will change everything for you…but not always. Many times, what God will do is to open up a way for you to move through what you are facing. If you go back to the Old Testament, Moses had been commissioned by God to lead his people out of Egypt. Pharoah had given them the right to leave their slavery…but then he changes his mind, and he chases after all of the Jewish people. Moses leads the people right up to the Red Sea and there they are trapped! Water on one side and Pharoah’s strong army on the other. The people begin to weep fearfully because there is no way out. But Moses tells the people to wait and watch God rescue them today. And he says something rather chilling…The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. He told the people that the Lord himself will fight for them…to just stay calm. But then God says for them to quit crying out to me…get moving! A lot of times that’s what God is going to be saying to you and me when we have our backs up against the wall…or the sea. I’m not going to make everything go away…but I will lead you through this trial. For Moses and the untold thousands of Jewish people he pointed them to the Red Sea before them and parted it so that they could walk through it. With water on either side the tens of thousands of former slaves walk on dry ground to the other side. But when the last person reached the other side, the mighty Egyptian army began their pursuit of God’s people. And while they were crossing, God caused the waters to come together…and the enemy was destroyed. So, when you hit a spot on your earthly journey and find yourself in the proverbial between a rock and a hard and a hard place, remember that God is with you and will not necessarily make all the bad stuff go away. But he will lead you through your trial with his power and his love for you. And no matter how big your trial is…never forget that the God of the Bible is in the business of making the impossible…possible! When you get scared…put your trust in him. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Exodus 14:13-15 NLT But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. (14) The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” (15) Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!
Remember I’m praying for you!
