Daily Devotional #1,674

I was talking with some friends about the death of a follower of this Jesus of the Bible. When we are by the side of someone we love and care about, our hearts and minds wonder what death will be like for them. There are depictions and even cartoons of people climbing stairs to heaven or making their way to God's presence when this life is over. But I think about those ideas and then I remember what Jesus said about death for those who trust in him. He said that he is way ahead of us and is preparing or has already prepared a place for you. And when it is time for this journey of life here on earth to be over, it means that everything is ready for you. And when that happens, Jesus doesn't say that you are making this journey after death on your own. What he did tell his disciples, just before his own death on the cross, was that when all is ready, he said "I will come and get you, so that you will be with me always where I am." He told us that he would be with us always and we see that in the last verses of the Gospel of Matthew. Every day of your life here he is with you. And when your story here on this planet is over...he is still with you and will be with you always. So, whether you think of your leaving this earth or someone you love leaving you through death, remember, you and they will never be alone...this Jesus promised that he would be with us. Here's our Bible verse for today...
John 14:1-3 NLT "Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. (2) There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? (3) When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I  am.

Remember I'm praying for you!
With love, PJ
