“Tell me the truth all the time...I can believe you all the time. Tell me the truth some of the time...I can never believe you.” You may have heard that before and all of us know the reality of that statement. We don’t want to be lied to by others. And we know that is hard not to do...because we find ourselves struggling to tell the truth...at least some of the time. Or we mean well, but end up deciding that a promise we have made isn’t going to be kept by us because it is too hard or too inconvenient to keep. We didn’t tell the truth. So where do we find real truth? Better yet, is there anyone anywhere who is telling the truth all the time? Well in John 14:6 Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me.” He says that he not only tells the truth...but he is the truth. And the truth about life and death and heaven and hell is that no one comes to the Father except by him. James says that God doesn’t change his plans and he doesn’t change his mind. And that is good because the Bible says that God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son so that whoever believed in him would not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). And because God doesn’t go back on his word...we can trust him for our salvation and for his gift of eternal life. Count on God to keep his word...he always has and he promises he always will.
Here’s our Bible verse for today...
James 1:16-18 BSB Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. (17) Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow. (18) He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of first fruits of His creation.
Remember I’m praying for you!
