My brother has set up something special for him and my sister and me. We are going to have a personal
meeting with an astronaut who has flown three shuttle missions! I looked the astronaut up online and this guy
has an incredible background! He graduated from MIT, has two master’s degrees, was commissioned as a
Marine officer and served as a platoon leader in Vietnam. Then he went to naval flight school and became a
pilot and finally was accepted into NASA’s astronaut program and flew on the “Discovery” and the “Atlantis”. I
have to admit that I’m excited and have lots of questions, but I’m kind of intimidated by all that this guy has
done! I got to thinking about that…I have another appointment out there with someone with even greater
credentials. He’s God and died on the cross to save me and anyone else who wants to be forgiven their sins.
And his name is Jesus. I’m going to get to meet him too. But the crazy thing is that I’m not so intimidated by
him. Because he and I already have a love relationship that has allowed me to know him by faith. I’m looking
forward to meeting that astronaut and I’ll have a set time to ask him all kinds of questions. But in the not-sodistant
future, I’ll get that meeting with this Jesus of the Bible, and I’ll have all eternity to get to know him face
to face. Remember you too have an appointment with this Jesus…make sure that it is a good one by simply
accepting his offer of love and forgiveness today. And when that day comes…you will feel like you are meeting
an old friend…because that’s who he will be to you.
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
1 John 3:2-3 NLT Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. (3) And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.
Remember I’m praying for you!
