I had an opportunity to indulge in one of my hobbies yesterday afternoon. I like building model airplanes from kits. I glue them together and then do my best to paint them. I really get a kick out of it, but I find myself having to do a lot of filling in cracks and sanding and spraying on primer and then a final coat of paint. It takes a lot of time for me to get it the way each plane is supposed to look. But to me it is worth the effort. As I was sanding down some rough places on some planes yesterday, I thought about how God is doing the same kind of thing in my life. He takes me, with all my imperfections, and is continually cutting and sanding away the parts that don’t look like what the finished product is supposed to look like. I get frustrated when I’m working on my project, but I get a sense that God is really patient with me as he takes off one rough or ragged area of my life after another. For me, I look at the cover of the model kit and I can see what the end result is supposed to look like. And you know, God and I both know what the end game is here. My life and heart and soul are to be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus. And that takes a lot of filling in gaps and sanding so many rough spots and then some day, putting on that final coat to finish it off. And you know what? If you are a follower of this Jesus of the Bible, then God is doing the same thing for you. So, every trial or challenge or struggle is used by God to shape you “like the picture on the box” so to speak. To make you and me like this Jesus. It won’t be complete until we get to heaven. The Bible says that when we see him…we will then become like him. But until then you and I are partners with God as he continues the process of forming us to the image of this Jesus who died and rose from the dead for us! So today, be patient with all that comes your way because you are being molded and shaped to be all that God has destined you to be.
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
(Romans 8:29 BSB) For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.
Remember I’m praying for you!
