One of my favorite movies when I was growing up was Disney’s “The Absent-Minded Professor”. It is about a college professor who accidentally invents an incredible material that gains energy every time it strikes a hard surface. And he names it “Flubber”. The problem with the professor is that he doesn’t often remember the important things in his life. When we meet him at the beginning of the movie, he has forgotten to go to his own wedding twice already. And the accidental process by which he developed the Flubber, caused an explosion that knocked him out and when he revived, he was so excited about his discovery that he forgets to go to his wedding for the third and according to his fiancé, the last time! It is a great movie, and you need to sit down and see it knowing that all turns out well. When I was watching it as an adult though, I thought about how a guy could forget this beautiful woman that he says he loves so much. He has forgotten his own wedding to her on three occasions. But you know, we sometimes feel like that bride. Not only with the people around us, but with God himself. We go through life, deal with hardships and trials and do our best to serve him and especially when we hit those hard seasons of life, we wonder if God has forgotten us and all that we have done. Well, the good news of the gospel is that because of Jesus’ death on the cross…when we accept his gift of grace, his forgiveness of our sins…he does forget our sins…and says that he remembers them no more. But on the other side, the Bible says that he is not like Disney’s absent-minded professor. He will not forget all the good that you do and all the love that you have shown him and others who follow this Jesus of the Bible. So especially when you walk through those tough times, don’t let the devil tell you that you have been forgotten by God. That he was just too busy with his “real work” to hear your prayers or bring his power to bear on your situation. No…that’s not the God of the Bible. He loves you and will never forget any good thing you do in his name…for him or for those who have become his children by their belief and life in his son Jesus Christ. Hang in there, God is there and he hasn’t forgotten you… and even if you can’t see it…he is working.

Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Hebrews 6:10 NLT For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

Remember I’m praying for you,
PJ
