Daily Devotional #1,531

He was a soldier who was killed in the Vietnam War. He was buried in The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. The body lay there for 26 years, until DNA testing in 1998 was done and they discovered that the soldier was Michael Joseph Blassie. No one had known who he was…and then anyone could know who that soldier was. He was then reburied in a cemetery near his family. All those years that the body lay in that tomb, it was with an inscription that read “HERE RESTS IN GLORY AN AMERICAN SOLDIER KNOWN BUT TO GOD”. While Michael Blassie was unknown to us…he was always known to God. The Bible reminds us that God knows us and has known us before we were born. In Psalm 139 it declares that God watched as were being woven together in our mother’s womb, that God saw us before we were born. And before we were born, God knew every moment that was going to make up our lives and every day had already been recorded in his book. And then we are reminded that he thinks about you and me. And his thoughts are precious and are so many that they cannot even be numbered. Sometimes we will feel like we are that unknown person. That we are just a part of the background of life here on earth…that no one really knows us and our hearts and even our real identity. But God does. You are so valuable to him that he just can’t keep from thinking about you! No matter how you may feel people are responding to you, you are never lost to God. He knows you, all about you, and is crazy in love with you. The cross of Christ proves that. So, no matter how unknown you may feel in life, remember that you are never lost to the God who saw you before you made it out into this world. And has and will love you every day of your life.

Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Psalms 139:15-17 NLT You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. (16) You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. (17) How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!

Remember I’m praying for you,
PJ
