Years ago I was in a dorm room and I saw a poster on the wall that intrigued me. It simply had a brick that was
gold and next to it was a brick that was all grey. There was nothing else there and so I went close to read what
was written underneath. It said, if you take a brick of gold and rub it against a brick of lead and then look at
them both, it looks like nothing has changed. But if you take that brick of gold and examine it under a
microscope, you will see that all throughout that gold are tiny flecks of the lead that are embedded there forever.
And then if you will take that brick of lead and place it under a microscope, you will find that embedded all
through it are flecks of gold…that will stay there forever. Every day our lives bump up against family, friends,
co-workers and even people we don’t know. And our lives and actions and words leave behind something in
each one of them. And the question before us is “Did we leave flecks of lead or did we leave flecks of gold?”
If you are a follower of this Jesus of the Bible, you are being conformed to the very image of Christ himself.
And our goal is to leave behind a little bit of that Jesus with all those that God brings to our path this day. So,
remember that you will leave behind what is really you. Make sure that it is precious gold and not just everyday
lead. Share the grace and love and kindness of this Jesus with the people you rub up against today. They are
not there by accident.
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Titus 2:7 NLT And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.
Remember I’m praying for you,
