One of the verses that I have both heard and used often is Romans 8:28. It goes like this: “And we know that
God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his
purpose for them.” It is a reminder to us that even when times come to us that are hard or difficult to
understand, that we can have confidence that God is not going to waste them. God is going to work them
together for the good of the people who love him and are being shaped for his purpose for them. The question
is…What is that purpose? If you go to the next verse, it says that he is working all these things together to
make us like his son Jesus. And that we would be so much like him that we would literally be brothers and
sisters to him. There would be a family resemblance. And he goes on to assure us that not only did he choose
us to be like Christ, but that we are invited to come to him, and he will give us right standing with him. And
because of that position, he will give us his glory. So, when things happen that are confusing, painful or even
heartbreaking, remember that God is using those times to work in you and for you. And he has planned all this
step by step. And if you will not lose heart and not give up, the end game is to receive the glory of God. Hard
times are never fun but remember that God is using these to conform you to the image of Christ and to one day
let you share in his glory. Stay strong in your faith in God and don’t give up. The promise is that you won’t be
disappointed!
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Romans 8:29-30 NLT For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (30) And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
