A week ago, we got hail and then snow all over our yards. The road was filled with slush, and we decided that
it wasn’t wise to go driving around in this icy mess. And it was in the first week of April at an elevation of less
than 300 feet! The granddaughters came over and they made snowmen and hand plenty of the white stuff to
have a decent snowball fight. Just a few days later they got in the car with grandpa and all of them moaned
“Grandpa, please turn on the air conditioner…we are burning up in here!” As one person said of where they
live “If you don’t like the weather, just wait an hour…it will change.” The weather has been pretty
unpredictable, and we have been going from wet to dry and cold to hot. That’s the way we are as people too.
We find ourselves switching our positions, ideas and commitments. And sometimes we think that God is just
like us. But he is holy. There is a moral component to that, but in the most basic sense, it means that God is
different than us. He doesn’t change with the seasons or act differently as time goes on. The book of Hebrews
reminds us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. That means that he can be counted
on…that you can depend on his love and grace…and his word. He makes promises and he keeps them. So, you
will find that just about everything in this world shifts, moves and changes. But God is different. You can
count on him and count on him to be there. And most of all you will always be able to count on his love and
grace for you.
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
James 1:17 ERV Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same.
Remember I’m praying for you…
