I remember being in high school we were all issued lockers where we could leave personal items and especially
our textbooks. Because it seemed like I had homework every night, I got in the habit of just carrying my books
with me all day long and then taking them to get dressed out for practice at the end of the day. I didn’t even
have a backpack, but it worked for me. The problem was that for months I never went to my locker and when it
got close to the end of the year, I not only had forgotten the combination, I forgot the number of my locker. I
had put some stuff in at the beginning of school, but totally ignored that locker until I had to turn in my
combination lock! I remember scrounging around until I found the numbers I needed in my bedroom and was
able to turn my lock back in. Sometimes we might feel that God treats us kind of like that. God knows that we
are there, but for the most part, we are out of sight and out of mind. That day in and day out we just blend in
with the masses of humanity on this earth. But that isn’t so. God compares himself with a loving mother who
birthed and cared for her child and that mother would never forget that child. And he tells us that even if that
were possible…a mom forgot about that child she raised…he says that he would never forget about you! And
he tells us that he has written yours and my names on the palms of his hands. We are always there before
him…never are we lost to him. So even if you feel like God is far away…or even if you have forgotten about
God…he hasn’t forgotten about you. You are precious to him, and he not only knows who you are, but knows
what you are going through today and what you feel in your heart. Unlike me and my high school locker he
knows you and loves you and never forgets anything about you!
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Isaiah 49:15-16 NLT “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! (16) See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands."
Remember I’m praying for you…
