I just got the oil changed in the car I drive. I used to do it myself. I’d buy the oil and the oil filter. I’d get the
car lifted up and place a pan under the oil drain. I would open the drain and let all the old oil drain out. Then
I’d get an oil filter wrench and take off the filter. I would put on the new filter and replace the drain. I would
pour in the new oil and then take the old oil and the filter to be recycled. Then I would have to get cleaned up.
This time, I drove into an oil changing station, and they told me what I needed and all I did was say …yes.
They did it all and I sat in the car. I thought about what it was like when I was doing it myself with my tools in
my driveway. And these folks did it all. And I couldn’t help but compare that with what Jesus has done for me
and everyone else who accepts his offer of forgiveness. He did it all. And there was no way we could have
done what he did for us. A whole past, present and future of sin…forgiven. He did it all and our part? Just say
“yes”. The Bible says John 1:12 NLT But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to
become children of God. That’s all he ever asks of any person…just to believe him and accept him. Easier than
getting your oil changed for you.
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Romans 5:8-11 NLT But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (9) And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. (10) For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. (11) So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
Remember I’m praying for you…
