Daily Devotional #1,673

I remember driving down one of the busy streets in town and there were a lot of businesses that lined this avenue for several miles. And every now and then was a person with a sign that had a message about a business on it and was shaped like an arrow pointing you to that store or outlet. The messages on the signs were done attractively and the person holding them did so with enthusiasm. Even though I wasn't shopping for those things, it caught my eye and captured both my attention and my interest. I felt like it was pretty good advertising. I thought about that and realized that God is in the advertising business too. He's got the Bible out there, but the biggest advertisement for the goodness and love and transforming power that he has is...you and me! Our lives lived before people each day become an advertisement for God. Now we are either good advertising or bad advertising. I remember before I committed my life to Christ, I was on a team with a guy who was open about his faith in Jesus. But the way he acted on the team did nothing for me. Even though I had gone to church my whole life, I was not interested in what he had to say. But then that summer I had the opportunity to go and be with another guy who was also open about his faith and this time I really watched what he did, how he treated others and what he said. This time, after spending a week with him and a whole group of folks, I went out by myself and asked God to come into my life and do in me what he did in that man. We are going to have good days and bad days, but we need to remember that people are watching you and me to see if we are for real. And our lives become ads for the God of the Bible, and we may be used by God to break through the barriers just by our speech and love and deeds. So don't underestimate the power of your life in the world each day. You have in you what the world desperately needs...and deep down, desperately wants. So go live like Jesus and make God look good...because he really is. Here's our Bible verse for today...
2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord who is the Spirit makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
Remember I'm praying for you!
With love, PJ
