I heard the story of a little girl who was asked by one of her classmates "What is it like to be a Christian?" The little girl said "It's like being a pumpkin. God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. Then he cuts open the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed and more, and then he carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see! I really like that description...because it sure sounds a lot like my story of faith. We all are out there in the patch and the awesome thing is that we can ask to be picked and transformed and used by God. And he never turns anybody down who really wants him to do his changing work. So, when you look at the jack-o-lanterns this Halloween, remember that they were picked out of the field, clean off and cleaned out. And then what was just a gourd can become a smiling face with a light that now comes from the inside. So let Halloween this year be a reminder of what God has done for you...or maybe what he can do for you...if you will let him change you with his love and kindness and forgiveness.
Here's our Bible verse for today...
Tit 3:4-7 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, (5) He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. (6) This is the Spirit He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, (7) so that, having been justified by His grace, we would become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
Remember I'm praying for you!
