Daily Devotional #1,648

In the movie “The Right Stuff” the story is told of America’s joining the race to go into space. In the beginning  it says that men came from all over to the high desert to test different and new and powerful aircraft that would  open the door for humans to go into space and eventually to the moon. It was hard and it was dangerous and  not all of them survived. And the voice says, “They were called test pilots…and no one knew their names”.  They were living as heroes, and we didn’t know it. In our world right now, there are heroes of faith that are  pushing the boundaries of faith. They are people who trust God, but do that while struggling with pain, fear,  illness, discouragement, loneliness, heartache and any number of other trials and difficulties. And every day  they get up and tell God that they will not rely on themselves but trust only in God. They will get up today and  place their confidence in this Jesus of the Bible and will rely on him to give them the strength to get through this  day. And often…no one knows their names…nor what they will face. But they will get up today and face the  pain of body or spirit and trust the God who raises the dead. And while we don’t know their pain, God  does…and heaven does. And each day they step out in faith they act courageously, and God is honored by their  faith. So, if this is you today…God knows your name and he knows your faith…and you will not do this day  alone. And you and he will make it together. Keep going and don’t quit! Here’s our Bible verse today…

2 Corinthians 1:7-10 NLT We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the  comfort God gives us. (8) We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went  through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we  thought we would never live through it. (9) In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on  ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. (10) And he did rescue us from mortal danger,  and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
