It was April of 1775. The British had just attacked Lexington and Concord in an effort to seize the colonists weapons and ammunition. They were marching back to Boston and the columns were being shot at by American patriots from the woods. Samuel Whittemore, 78, was working in his field when he saw the British troops. He loaded his musket and two pistols and ran back and attacked the marching troops. He killed two of the British soldiers and mortally wounded a third. Out of ammunition, he drew his sword and ran towards the soldiers. He was shot in the face and then bayonetted six times and left by the side of the road. When American militiamen found him, he was trying to reload his weapons to get back into the fight. He died...18 years later, having seen Americans win their independence and establish a new country on the planet. For us a followers of this Jesus of the Bible we are going to have our own battles in life. They will be fear and pain and loneliness and fatigue...among so many others. Through his Bible, God has promised that he will give power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Those who fight life’s battles on their own will fall in exhaustion, but those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar like eagles, run and not grow weary and walk and not faint. No matter what your battle is today, remember that God is waiting for you to call him to your side. The God of the Bible never grows weak and never gets tired. Your job will be to put your trust in him...and to never give up. Never forget that you and God together will always make a majority!
Here’s our Bible verse for today...
Isaiah 40:28-31 NLT Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. (29) He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. (30) Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. (31) But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Remember I’m praying for you!
