I was out with my oldest granddaughter and on the way home, told her we were going to stop at Hobby Lobby for just a second, because I wanted to just run in and see what their selection of model kits was like that day. She was ready to go and so in we went. We scooted back to the aisle where my stuff was located and while I was looking, she spied something that she knew she couldn’t live without. It was something that virtually every young teenage girl needs and certainly wants. She came up and said “Look Grandpa...would you buy me this fingerprinting kit?” Yeah, that’s right, she decided that she wanted to fingerprint her family and friends. It was marked way down, and I figured that this actually might be fun for us to do together! So yeah...Grandpa bought it! We haven’t even opened it, but as I looked at the little box that contained ink, tape, individual papers for each “subject” and who knows what else, I talked to her about how valuable fingerprints were. I explained that no two people on earth have the same fingerprint and so it is a reliable form for identification. I then went on to remind her that each one of us has been made different from every other person who is on earth now or whoever has been or whoever will be! Each one of us is an individual who is special because there is no one just like us. That’s the care that God has used when as it says in Psalm 139 that he formed you and me and made all the delicate inner parts of our bodies and knit each one of us together in our mother’s womb. It says that we are God’s workmanship...and that it is marvelous. And not only are we unique in our bodies and our minds and our spirits...we are even different in the time we will spend on this planet in our earthly life. So, when you see people around you, remember that each one of them has been touched by the hand of God. And each one is different and here for their own purpose and destiny. And that all goes for you and me too. So, no matter how you feel today...don’t forget that you are one of a kind and made that way at the express will of the God of the Bible. You have your own purpose, worth and ultimate destiny. You are somebody special!
Here’s our Bible verse for today...
Psalms 139:13-16 NLT You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. (14) Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. (15) You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. (16) You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
Remember I’m praying for you!
