Daily Devotional #1,555

There are many wonderful things in the creation around where we live that just take my breath away. One thing that I am always in awe of are the giant redwoods up in the Sierra Nevada mountain range close by. They are magnificent! It is said that they can grow up to 300 feet into the sky. The really crazy thing about these trees is that they are so tall and yet they have a root system that is just under the earth’s surface. The reason is for them to be able to catch as much of the moisture as they can. In those mountains there are storms with heavy winds that should bring these huge trees crashing to the earth. But that rarely happens. The reason is that they grow with others, in groups and their intertwining roots provide support for one another when the storms come. When you are a part of the Body of Christ, you both give and receive support in the same way. We are all going to be hit by the storms of life, but like those giant trees, our connection with the God of the Bible and with each other support us and keep us standing. When you are a part of God’s family, one of his children by your receiving this Jesus of the Bible as your Lord and Savior, you have a whole huge family in heaven and on earth there to support you, hang on to you and keep you from crashing down. The Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Galatian church that we are to share each other’s burdens…and when we do that we obey the law of Christ…to love each other just like he loves us.

Here’s our Bible verse for today…

Galatians 6:2 NLT Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

Remember I’m praying for you!
