It seems like I end up writing a lot these days. Right now, I have this devotional, a church-wide mailer, a
funeral service and a message for Sunday all needing to be finished on my computer. There are some times
when I just look at that blank computer screen and ask God “Ok…what now?” And the best way for me to hear
what I think God wants is to…type! Instead of just sitting there waiting for a whole page full of stuff to appear,
I just start with what I have, and begin to type. And so often it seems like God stays just ahead of me and away
we go. So, I have learned two things…first, ask and expect an answer. The second, get up and get going…in
this case put down on “paper” what you have and give God a chance to bring the rest to you. That’s the way our
faith is. So often we try our best to believe, to hold on to hope or to know what to do next. And sometimes,
God is waiting for you to get up and act on what you know, what you are given and what you know for sure
God wants. If you are not sure what God wants, go to the Bible…it has all kinds of stuff that he wants for you
and from you! Remember that your faith is not just a sitting around contemplating act. It is to be used along
with your doing something in obedience to what you know God asks of you. Remember that your faith grows
as you trust and step out and, in my case,…start typing. So whatever it is for you today, remember that God
wants to take your faith and your work and accomplish his will with you as his partner! And the really
outstanding thing is that as you step out and do…your faith will be come stronger and more complete every
time. Trust God by getting up and doing something that will make God look good!
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
James 2:22 (ERV) So you see that Abraham's faith and what he did worked together. His faith was made perfect by what he did.
Remember I’m praying for you,
