Today is my wife’s birthday. She is 70 as of today. Now I’m older than her but as her birthday approached, I
told her that I was wondering what it was going to be like to be married to someone who is 70. She looked at
me and said “It’s not that exciting…” Actually, that is an old joke, but we are indeed now both in our 70’s. And
I find myself asking “How in the world did we get here”? Well, the Bible says that getting to grow older is a
gift that God gives. Not everyone gets to do that. And a lot of couples don’t get to do that together either. We
are reminded in the Bible that God alone is the one who numbers the days of our lives. Now I’ve worried about
getting older…but I have come to realize that I have been given a gift that not everyone was able to experience.
And now, those two kids who, it seems like were married just a short time ago, have been given the privilege to
share that long life with each other. So, treasure the days that God gives to you. Do all the good you can while
you can. And remember that the ministry that he calls you to is right there before you. Make your days count.
Because even if God allows you to journey many years here on planet earth, it will go by in the blink of an eye.
And to my wife, who was 22 when we got married, this is the 48th time that I have been able to wish you a
“Happy Birthday” as your husband!
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Psalms 91:14-16 NLT The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. (15) When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. (16) I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”
Remember I’m praying for you,
