It is said that it took place when the old Soviet Union was at its strongest. Their mantra was that “religion” was
the opiate of the masses and had no power or worth in this workers paradise. Close to Easter, people were told to
meet in the large square of the city. They were told that there would be a message from the Soviet Political
Officer and then a few remarks from one of the Russian Orthodox Priests. The Soviet official went on for over
an hour, non-stop, about the glories of a communist nation and how the idea of God was no longer needed. He
finally ran out of steam, and he said to the large crowd “Now just a few words from one of your priests.” The
priest was an older man who had seen many changes in his country but had held to his faith. He walked up to
the platform and simply shouted to the crowd “He is risen!” And with one voice the crowd roared back “He is
risen indeed!” We will do that this morning at our services. We believe that Jesus has risen from the dead and
is alive. We believe what the Bible says. And our changed lives are a testimony to the life and power of the
risen Christ. Celebrate well this Easter…and if you get a chance to do it…let them know that “He is Risen
Indeed!”
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Matthew 28:6-7 NLT "He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. (7) And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”
Remember I’m praying for you…
