Daily Devotional #1,461

This week we are going to do a special dinner for folks in our church. It is a reenactment of the Passover meal that Jesus had with his disciples the night before he was crucified on the cross. He was in an upper room with his disciples and he blessed the bread and broke it in pieces and gave it to his disciples and told them that this was his body…and said “Do this in remembrance of me”. After the supper was over, Jesus took a cup of wine and said that this cup represented the new covenant between God and his people. That they would be saved by his blood which would be poured out as a sacrifice for their sins. They ate that supper that was put in place to remind the people of Israel how God had rescued all those who wanted freedom from slavery in Egypt. But that night Jesus asked us to do this to remind us of the new covenant that pays for the sins of anyone who wants it. And the price was to be his blood, his life. It would be the innocent for the guilty. So as you go through this week, remember what this one who was God and became flesh did for us. He died so that we might be freed from the power and the punishment for our sins. Don’t forget it this week…remember…

Here's our Bible verse for today…

Luke 22:19-20 NLT He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” (20) After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you."

Remember I’m praying for you…
With love, PJ
