I got my oil changed the other day. I have a friend who once told me that the cheapest and easiest maintenance
you can do for your car is to just change the oil. When he told me that, the rule of thumb was to bring it in to a
shop or do it yourself every 3,000 miles. With synthetic oil you get a lot more miles, but if you want that car to
be in good shape, you still need to do it on a regular basis. As I was getting the oil changed, I thought about
what was the simplest and easiest thing you can do to keep your spiritual life in shape? It could be prayer or
reading your Bible…or even coming to worship with other followers of Jesus on a regular basis. All three are
important, but I really like going to “church” and having that time with other believers. There is something
special about singing to the Lord, hearing the Bible read and expounded on and to have that fellowship with
other folks. It is a reminder that God is worthy of our time and effort. And we honor him every time we come
together in his name as well as encourage other believers. So, if you are looking for the easiest and simplest
way to help to help maintain your Christian life, head out to a church where you can hear God’s word, have a
chance to sing and be with those who someday you will be spending eternity with in heaven. Keep that spiritual
part of you in good shape and in running order!
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Hebrews 10:24-25 NLT Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. (25) And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Remember I’m praying for you…
