Daily Devotional #1,443

I remember when I was really young, I was going through the Sears Wishbook before Christmas. It was the catalogue that Sears released at the end of each summer, and it had all kinds of stuff that kids might like for Christmas. One thing that caught my eye was a crystal radio set. The crystal radios had no external power and used the energy from the radio signal itself to produce sound. My Dad thought it sounded like a fun thing and sure enough on Christmas morning, there it was under the tree. To run the set, my Dad had to climb up into a tree in the front yard and string a wire antenna from the tree to my bedroom. Then the crystal radio was hooked up to it and because the signal was so weak you had to use a headset to hear the radio. The town I grew up in had only one little radio station, but I could get it on my set, and I was so excited. Now, any time I wanted, all I had to do was to pick up my headphones and I could listen to our local station. I felt like I had access to the whole world…instead of just our little station. I thought about how excited I was to hear from someone unseen out there who was sending me messages. But today, I get that same feeling…that I’m getting messages from someone who not only is broadcasting…but is sending me messages through…his Bible. That’s right. If you want to hear from God, all you have to do is to grab a Bible…or just open a free app on your phone…and you have access any time you want to hear what God has to say to you. So don’t take for granted that Bible and for heaven’s sake don’t neglect letting God speak to your heart. Open it up and let him tell you who he is, how much he loves you, how you can live a fulfilling life and so much more. And the really good news is that you don’t have to wait until next Christmas to get started!

Here’s our Bible verse for today…

2 Timothy 3:15-17 NLT You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. (16) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. (17) God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Remember I’m praying for you…
With love, PJ
