I love the story of the guy who visited this church and parked his car, a guy pulled up and said “Hey, you
parked in my place” and then drove off. The visitor shook his head and found a Sunday School class and came
inside and sat down. A class member came over and said. “You know, that’s my seat. You took my place!
The guy was feeling pretty unwelcome here at the church, but he went into the Chapel for worship and sat
down. A person came up to him and said… “I know you didn’t know, but that’s where I always sit. You sat in
my place!” As the story goes the church began to pray that this Jesus of the Bible would be present with them
that morning. The visitor stood up and his appearance began to change. Slowly scars began to appear on his
hands and on his feet that were shod with sandals. The people were shocked by what they were seeing and one
person staring at his scars asked, “What happened to you?” And the visitor replied, “I took your place”. As we
move closer to Easter Sunday, we need to remember what this Jesus has done for each one of us. We deserved
to be on that cross…but he took our place. He died, really was executed, for our crimes. Our legal debt has
been paid. As an old song from the past proclaimed “He paid a debt He did not owe; I owed a debt I could not
pay”. Will we die someday? Yep. But for those who receive him as Lord and Savior, it will be just a passage
from our visit on this earth to home…our real home with him. And the reason that can happen is because he
took our place.
Here’s our Bible verse for today… Romans 5:6-9 NLT When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. (7) Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. (8) But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (9) And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.
Remember I’m praying for you…
