Daily Devotional #1,431

We turned our church chapel into an Italian restaurant last night and had a spaghetti dinner together. While folks were eating, I went around and talked with many of the people, and I asked one of my friends about his Italian heritage. He said that years ago his family had come to America from Italy, and he had relatives there that he’d never met. I thought about how that would feel… knowing that you have family elsewhere that you’ve never seen before. When I got home, I realized that’s the way it is with those who follow this Jesus of the Bible. We are told that folks who have a personal relationship with this Jesus are in fact brothers and sisters. And there are some in every country on planet earth. That means that we have spiritual relatives all around the world! We don’t know their names and have not met them…but we are in fact related according to the Bible. So when you come to Christ, you become a part of this huge family. And while you don’t know them, you can and should be praying for them regularly. And the good news is that one day, in another place, we will get a chance to not only meet these members of our family, but will be sharing life with them…well, forever! So remember you are not alone and you are not the only one that God is loving and using for his Kingdom. And one day you will get to meet each and every one of them!
