Today is the Super Bowl with two great teams, the 49ers and the Chiefs going head-to-head for the NFL
Championship. There is always a lot of activity, publicity and interviews that take place in the days before this
big game. But there was something that I noticed that kind of leaked through some of the cracks in the
interviews that made it on social media. I heard from several different players talking about having a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ! And then I found out that a number of the players and coaches have been
involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I was encouraged to hear these young men share openly,
naturally and respectfully of their commitment to Christ. Now I’m more interested in this game than others in
past years because I’m a 49er fan, but I don’t really remember this much talk in the past from the players about
their faith. I like that. All of these guys are wonderfully talented, and they are now on a world stage…and they
are telling people that they follow this Jesus of the Bible. All of us have our own settings and opportunities
where we too can share that Christ is the key to our lives. So, like those young men who have been thrust into
the spotlight this past week, we too need to be ready to give an answer when someone asks us about our hope.
When you get the chance let folks know about your relationship with God. But like the Bible says…give them
a kind and respectful answer. And when you do that, you might be the person God will use to change
someone’s life…forever!
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
1 Peter 3:15-16 CEV Honor Christ and let him be the Lord of your life. Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your hope. (16) Give a kind and respectful answer and keep your conscience clear. This way you will make people ashamed for saying bad things about your good conduct as a follower of Christ.
Remember I’m praying for you…
With love, Pastor Joe
