I just got back from a vacation and while away, we did a short cruise in the Caribbean. I’ve never been out to
sea on a ship before, so I was fascinated by just about everything. We had a small balcony with our stateroom,
and I loved just going out there and sitting and watching the ocean. It was amazing to be able to look all around
at the water and see no sign of land anywhere! It was actually fun to just watch the waves and whitecaps both
during the day and then after dark too. A Navy buddy of mine said that looking at the ocean was a lot like
staring into the fire on a campout. As I looked at the water that just extended all the way to the horizon, I
thought about a scripture that I’ve read, but meant more to me as I sat there. It is from the prophet Micah, and
he says that God will have compassion on us, and he will trample our sins under his feet and then throw them
into the depths of the ocean. It meant a lot more to me when I looked at that blue expanse and realized that
anything tossed into the depths of that water was going to be virtually impossible to find. Someone once said
that when God forgives our sin, he takes it and throws it into that deep part of the ocean and then puts a sign that
says “No Fishing”! I like that. God does something that you and I cannot do. He forgives and then he
forgets…he says that he will remember our sins no more. What a great offer this God of the Bible extends to
us. To just come to him, receive his son Jesus and accept the forgiveness for all our sins…past, present and
future. They are all paid for. And then to know that they are as though they have been buried in the bottom of
the deepest ocean. That’s a great gift and one worth thanking our God for every day. Take time to do that
today. God would appreciate hearing from you!
Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Micah 7:19 NLT Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!
Remember I’m praying for you...
