Daily Devotional #1,757

When I got my Toyota Corolla, one of the things that I liked from the very first was the over-sized (for that  time!) screen that would tap into the back up camera and show me what was going on behind me. I was so used  to using that rearview mirror (which I still have) that this was a wonderful luxury. But whether I use that back  up camera display or that rearview mirror, it is nowhere as huge as the front windshield of my car. The thing  about that camera though is that it only works if I put the car in reverse. As soon as I’m going forward, all I see  before me is…well, what’s before me, nothing behind me. I like the way that it is set up. When I’m going to  make my journey forward…what I see is all that can come through my large windshield. But if I’m going to go  backwards, I get just a small vision of where I’ve been. That’s the way God wants us to live life. To be looking  forward to the future. When we focus on the past, whether victories or defeats, times of honor or times of  regret…they can only be seen when we take our eyes off of the life that God gives us right there in front of us.  You are given just a glimpse of what is behind you…because your attention and your life is out there in front of  you, no matter how young or old you are. So, when you are driving…or living…focus on what God has out  there for you. He has lots for you to look forward to. All you need to do is to drive in the lane of his love and  forgiveness and life. There is a place called home out there for all who want it. But for now, you got some  living to do…driving if you will…and our task is to love God, thank him and declare that we are on his team.  And in everyday living it will include doing good and sharing with all those around us who need his love  through us. So, it is ok to glance occasionally at that rearview mirror while driving and use that backup camera  when you need to retrace some steps. But remember that the journey is out there in front of you. And God’s  promise is that it is a journey of life and love and even joyous laughter. So, keep looking forward and journey  on! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Hebrews 13:14-16 NLT For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to  come. (15) Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our  allegiance to his name. (16) And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the  sacrifices that please God.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
