Daily Devotional #1,756

There is a story that has been around for years, and it comes out of the Korean War. There was a young  infantryman who was a sergeant and was given the job of moving his men forward towards the enemy lines the  next day. He prepared his men and when dawn came, they were ready. But there was no order to move out.
Eventually it was 8:00 am and the men began to ask when they would advance. The Sergeant told them not yet.  It got to be 9:00 am and the men were asking how much longer. The sergeant told them not yet. Finally, it was  10:00 am…the sergeant told his men it was time to move forward. They did and began to take fire but got to  their objective without any losses. That night, they got talking and one of the men asked “Sarge, why did we  have to wait until 10:00 am to move out?” The sergeant quietly replied “Because at 10:00 am Korean time, is  the time that my Mother kneels down back home and prays to God for protection over me and my men. And  anytime I can, I wait until my Mother’s prayers are being lifted to God before I want us to go into harm’s way.”  I don’t know if the story is true…but I sure do believe in the power of prayers being offered for me or others at  the time they are needed most. To have someone praying for you at a set time is a physical reminder that  someone is standing in the gap for you. To know that someone is faithfully praying for you will always be an  encouragement to your heart and soul! Never think that your prayers for someone else don’t make a difference.  They may not make happen what you expected, but your prayers open the door for God’s good and perfect work  in their lives. So, like the Bible says…keep praying…and pray constantly. You won’t know what a difference  your prayers made until you get to heaven! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
James 5:16-18 NLT Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The  earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. (17) Elijah was as human  as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half  years! (18) Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
