Quail Lake Community Church

Daily Devotional #1,750

One of those stories that has been out there for as long as I can remember is about the guy who was asked why  he wasn’t coming to church. He said, “I’ve gone to church for years and I’ve heard hundreds of sermons. But I  can’t remember a single one of them. So I figured I was wasting my time and probably the pastor was wasting  his by giving a sermon every week”. Someone heard his argument and responded by saying “I’ve been married for 30 years and in that time I figure that my wife cooked somewhere in the neighborhood of 30,000 meals. But  for the life of me, I couldn’t tell you the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But what I do realize is  that they all gave me what I needed for that day and gave me the strength to do my work. If my wife had not  given me those meals, I would be dead today. And, if I had not gone to church for the nourishment that God  brings us through that, I would be spiritually dead today. If you are trusting the God of the Bible, remember  that he has a great track record for coming through with what he has promised. And what he wants us to do is  to encourage each other to love and to do good to all people. And the Bible says that we ought not to neglect  meeting together…but we ought to encourage each other by our presence and words and love for one another.  You probably won’t remember the majority of what you hear on a Sunday for the rest of your life (or the rest of  the week) but you have let God plant something in your heart that he can nurture and grow and in turn, take the  sword out of your heart and replace it with his love and kindness. So take time to get that “meal” that God has  for you on Sunday morning…it is good for your soul which means it is good for your life! Here’s our Bible  verse for today…
Hebrews 10:23-25 BSB Let us hold resolutely to the hope we profess, for He who promised is  faithful. (24) And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. (25) Let us not neglect  meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the  Day approaching.
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
