Quail Lake Community Church

Daily Devotional #1,731

Our church has a house where our kids meet on Sunday mornings. I went in the other day and it just smelled  kind of funky. It wasn’t anything dangerous…it just didn’t smell good. I thought about what I could do to  change that and I remember what a realtor told me they do when they are showing a house. Often they will use  the oven and bake cookies! A person walks in and it has this great smell that has to bring back some wonderful  memories. And then on top of that…you have cookies to share! Our Kids House still has a working oven in  there so I decided to get to church early and bake chocolate chip cookies in the house before the kids got there.  Now, I have not had much experience baking cookies but I got some good help and we churned out about four  dozen cookies. That place smelled like everyone’s dream of what Grandma’s house ought to smell like. And  after church…we ate all the cookies! That smell was so inviting you just wanted to be there. The Bible talks  about how lives lived well in this Jesus of the Bible are like a perfume or even like the aroma of those  wonderful cookies. People hear about your life, and can see your life…but the most important thing may be  that when they meet you or hang out with you…they are surrounded by the sweet aroma of Christ. So  remember that God allows you to have an impact on your world by the way you live and love and imitate this  Jesus. Don’t let the staleness of this world be the fragrance that people smell around you and me. Let your life  be lived so close to his that you give off the sweet smell of the perfume of God. Because wherever you go, you  will make that place better for you and for all who come close enough to get that scent of the love and kindness  of Jesus. Here’s our Bible verse for today…
2 Corinthians 2:14-15 BSB But thanks be to God, who always leads us triumphantly as captives in Christ and  through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. (15) For we are to God the sweet  aroma of Christ among those who are being saved…
Remember I’m praying for you!
With love, PJ
