The grandfather had always bought Christmas gifts for each of his grandchildren but it became increasingly difficult for him to figure out what might the right gift for each one. So he decided this year to write out really generous checks for each one of them. At the family gathering, they opened gifts and all the grandchildren opened their cards and suddenly seemed really distant towards grandpa for the rest of the night which was never like them. He went home disheartened and he began to clean off his desk and to his dismay found all the checks that he had forgotten to put with the cards to the grandchildren! It was then he realized that what each of them received was an empty card that said inside “I’ve bought you gifts for all these years, now go out and buy your own gift this year…Merry Christmas”! We forget things…sometimes really important things. And sometimes we think that God is like us…that he forgets good things, especially the good things and hard work we do to honor him. The Bible says that when we ask for forgiveness, he indeed forgets our sin. That’s awesome! But what he doesn’t forget is how hard you work for him and for his people. He always remembers every act of love and kindness that you do. And one key way we show our love for him is the caring for others and especially other followers of this Jesus of the Bible. And why is that important? Because Jesus said that you will prove to the world you are my disciples by the love you share with one another. So keep at it…loving, giving and caring. Because the God who loves you and me so much has a great and lasting memory for the good that we do. Go out and make God look good today! Here’s our Bible verse for today…
Hebrews 6:10 NLT For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.
Remember I’m praying for you!
